Cybersecurity & NIS2

Cybersecurity starts with the physical infrastructure. We make sure you can deliver.

On 15 August 2026, the Dutch Cybersecurity Act (Cyberbeveiligingswet) comes into force, the Dutch implementation of the European NIS2 Directive. From that moment, many clients in healthcare, government, data centers and industry will have to comply. There is no transition period.

Forehand itself does not fall under the Cybersecurity Act (NIS2), and neither do most installers. Even so, you will encounter it more and more often. Organizations that do fall under the law must be able to demonstrate that their digital infrastructure is secure and reliable. In doing so, they look closely at their suppliers and the partners who carry out the work.

What this means for you as an installer

The legal duty of care lies with the end user. But a crucial part of NIS2 is supply chain responsibility: the end user must also manage the risks in their supply chain and be able to prove that the parties they work with have their affairs in order.

This works its way down the chain. Your client will ask you for certified infrastructure, demonstrable quality and the accompanying warranty, documentation and test reports. Those who can provide this win and keep the contract. Those who cannot fall away. A reliable physical foundation has therefore become a commercial argument.

The physical infrastructure as the foundation

Cybersecurity does not start with software, but with a reliable infrastructure. Firewalls, network monitoring and access control are only effective when the underlying network is stable, demonstrably installed correctly and well documented. The cabling, patch cabinets and connections that you install therefore form the foundation for a secure and available IT environment.

We do not cover your client's entire NIS2 obligation, which is broader than technology alone. What we do do: help you make the foundation watertight, on three points that relate directly to your client's duty of care.

Availability

We supply only high-quality components from premium brands such as Siemon, Corning and Rittal. Reliable materials reduce the risk of downtime caused by physical defects, and continuity is exactly what the law requires of your client.

Integrity

By installing certified systems, you safeguard the quality and reliability of data transmission. We provide the documentation and certificates that help your client with their burden of proof toward the regulator, from test reports to manufacturer warranties. As a certified installer, you can even issue a warranty of up to 25 years through Siemon on the cabling you deliver.

Physical security

Security starts with physical access. With the modular, electronically lockable and secured enclosures from our partner Rittal, you prevent unauthorized people from reaching the critical network components. That is a concrete, demonstrable measure you can deliver as part of your client's risk management.

Supply chain security & partnership

Because the law requires the end user to manage their chain, a transparent supplier is worth its weight in gold. Forehand is that link behind you: we select our manufacturers strictly on reliability, sustainability and safety, and we make those choices traceable.

This gives you the substantiation you need to reassure your own client. You deliver a chain that holds up, and we make sure you can prove it.

How we support you

At Forehand, we like a down-to-earth approach. We make the complex matter of NIS2 practical, so that you can serve your client:

  • Advice on the right infrastructure for your client's environment, whether it concerns a critical healthcare setting or an emergency control room.
  • Certified delivery of components, with the documentation you need for your client's burden of proof.
  • Certification and training, so that you install as a certified partner and can issue longer warranties.
  • Project support and on-time delivery, so that the continuity of your project is safeguarded.

We contribute to an infrastructure that meets today's requirements and is ready for tomorrow.
